There are some romance books that quietly pull you in…and then there are books like Anyone But You that crash into your life like a private jet headed straight for a tropical island disaster.
And honestly? I loved every chaotic second of it.
As a longtime fan of A.N. Boyden since 2019, reading this story felt extra special for me. I originally started reading Anyone But You on Patreon, finished it on Inkitt, and then happily reread it again on Kindle Unlimited. Watching this story evolve while already knowing how talented A.N. Boyden is as a storyteller made the experience even more enjoyable. There’s something really rewarding about supporting an author’s journey and then seeing a story you already loved continue to grow and find new readers.
This book was spicy, hilarious, emotionally messy, and wildly entertaining in the absolute best way possible. From the very first chapter, A.N. Boyden throws readers into complete chaos when billionaire Knox Ramsey literally fake cancels Victoria’s flight by calling the airline and pretending she died. Yes, you read that correctly. And somehow, despite how absolutely unhinged that sounds, the story manages to make it work perfectly within its over-the-top rom-com energy.
At the center of all the tropical mayhem is Victoria, a heroine I deeply connected with. Beneath her sarcasm and frustration is a woman carrying the emotional burden of her family while trying to survive burnout, responsibility, and heartbreak. She feels realistic, relatable, and emotionally grounded—even while stranded on an island with the human embodiment of “rich man nonsense.”
And Knox? That man is a walking HR violation wrapped in expensive suits and obsession.
He is morally gray billionaire romance chaos at its finest: persistent, arrogant, completely ridiculous, yet somehow incredibly charming underneath all the madness. What makes him work as a character is that beneath the extravagant gestures and chaotic decision-making is someone who genuinely sees Victoria and wants to care for her in ways no one else has.
The chemistry between these two absolutely leaps off the page. Their banter is sharp, funny, and filled with tension that slowly transforms into vulnerability and emotional intimacy. Once the plane crashes and they’re stranded together on the island, the forced proximity trope reaches peak perfection. With nowhere to hide and no escape from each other, every interaction feels heightened in the best way.
The tropical setting also gives the story a fun escapist atmosphere that makes this the perfect vacation read. It feels like drinking iced coffee on a beach while watching two stubborn people argue themselves straight into love.
And the spice? Let’s just say your Kindle may need a moment to cool down afterward.
What I appreciated most about this book was how well it balanced absurd humor with emotional depth. Beneath all the chaos, expensive billionaire antics, and island survival shenanigans is a story about being truly seen, cared for, and chosen by someone who refuses to give up on you.
If you love:
- Morally gray billionaire MMCs
- Boss x assistant romances
- Forced proximity
- Stranded together tropes
- “I hate him… unfortunately he’s hot” energy
- Emotional tension mixed with laugh-out-loud moments
- Romance heroes who are completely obsessed with the FMC
…then Anyone But You absolutely deserves a place on your TBR.
This book was chaotic, sexy, funny, and ridiculously fun from beginning to end—and honestly, sometimes that’s exactly the kind of reading escape we need.
